Tesla Motors has opened its first European assembly plant in the city of Tilburg, the Netherlands.
The producer will assemble the Model S and the upcoming Model X EVs in the new factory with parts delivered directly from the Freemont plant of Tesla. Preliminary plans see the production of 450 cars per week, while the maximum capacity of the assembly line stands at 1,000 units per week.
The Tilburg factory has a 750-meter (2,460-foot) indoor test track and Tesla CEO Elon Musk added there’s “a lot of room for growth and expansion.” What’s more, Musk confirmed the company will experience the opportunity for more European plants in early 2016.
