Theophilus Chin has decided to redesign the Borgward BX7's front fascia by applying a grille from another car manufacturer.
Back in the game after more than 50 years of absence, Borgward is only German by name as everything else belongs to China-based Foton Motor. Their first modern product is a crossover called BX7 which made its debut earlier this month at the Frankfurt Motor Show and since then we have heard many voices saying that it looks generic, without any real distinctive exterior styling cues.
Many people say that it looks like a German crossover with a Buick grille and now Theophilus Chin has decided to apply Buick's proprietary waterfall grille on the BX7. In addition, he also rendered the model with Audi's singleframe hexagonal grille and in our humble opinion these two appear to be a perfect fit.
His digital design exercise also includes slapping on BMW's kidney grille and Mercedes-Benz's version with the big tri-star logo which don't necessarily look out of place, but are not as compatible as the other two.
Lastly, the Jaguar and Maserati grille aren't compatible at all, but nevertheless it's still interesting to see these mashups which in the end prove the front grille is without any doubt a very distinctive design feature that can change a car's appearance altogether.
