BMW Group has released an official statement regarding the current discussion of diesel engines.
Yesterday Auto Bild reported the German company could also be cheating on emission tests, but later the magazine said there's no real evidence for such thing. Now BMW stated that it “does not manipulate or rig any emissions tests” and the producer is observing “the legal requirements in each country and fulfill all local testing requirements.”
As for the test results mentioned by Auto Bild, BMW says that “no specific details of the test have yet been provided and therefore we cannot explain these results.” The Germans “are contacting the ICCT and asking for clarification of the test they carried out.”
What’s more, BMW comments the two studies carried out by the ICCT have confirmed that “the BMW X5 and 13 other BMW vehicles tested comply with the legal requirements concerning NOx emissions.”
