BMW is considering a V8 supercar for the near future and this one could be produced by McLaren, according to a recent report.
It may sound sensational, but the Bavarian company is reportedly in talks with McLaren to put a new V8 mid-engined supercar into production. The two companies have been discussing this opportunity since January and the final product is scheduled to reach customers in early 2019, if talks are successful.
If the information is correct, the model in question will use the carbon-fiber monocoque of the next-gen McLaren 650S. Power could be provided by a new 4.0-liter V8 unit with two exhaust-driven and two electric turbochargers. The estimated peak power will be 750 bhp (560 kW) or even more.
Nothing is confirmed yet, but the new V8 supercar will likely be introduced during the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017 and production will start a year later. A coupe is a top priority, while a roadster is a strong possibility, according to Car magazine.
