Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer has announced Queen Elizabeth II has placed an order for the Bentayga, the company's first ever SUV.

If you are among the 3,600 people that have already placed an order for the Bentayga, we have some bad news as you have been downgraded on the waiting list by Queen Elizabeth II since Bentley has announced the first production unit is heading to Buckingham Palace where it will share the garage with a bespoke Bentley State Limousine received back in 2002.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer says the Bentayga is so successful they are thinking about a production increase so that people won't have to wait so long for their cars, especially since the first year of production has already been sold out. The model kicks off at £160,200, but Dürheimer said clients can add extra goodies which will bump the price to more than £500,000.

It might sound like an exaggeration coming from the top brass at Bentley, but keep in mind that you can easily jack up the price by a cool £110,000 if you get the Breitling Tourbillon clock mounted on the dashboard in a rotating mount powered by an electric motor. Why? Because this way the clock actually winds itself up.

Deliveries of the Bentley Bentayga will begin by the end of the year.
