Besides bringing the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept, Hyundai is also displaying in Frankfurt their upcoming i20 WRC rally car.
It's the first product of Hyundai's newly established N performance division and is obviously based on the road-going second generation i20 supermini. Compared to the outgoing rally car, the new WRC-spec i20 benefits from optimized weight distribution, better powertrain efficiency and updated aerodynamics which should make it more competitive in next year's WRC season.
Hyundai N has already commenced testing of the rally car and will continue to make adjustments to make sure it will be in top shape in January next year when it will make its racing debut at Rally Monte Carlo.
We remind you this new Hyundai division is also in charge of developing sportier versions of road-going models and the first of the bunch is the i20 N Sport which uses an uprated 1.4-liter naturally aspirated engine with 115 PS and 160 Nm of torque transferred to the front axle through a six-speed manual transmission. It also has upgraded brakes, stiffer suspension, stainless steel free-flow exhaust, 17-inch rims and a slightly sportier body.
