SEAT has announced plans to stage the world premiere of a Leon Cross Sport concept at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show.

The one-sentence press release published by SEAT along with these two teaser images doesn't reveal much, but it seems this is a three-door Leon mixing up CUPRA and X-Perience cues, so it blends a sporty look with crossover styling and a jacked up suspension. We don't know whether this is just for show or if they actually want to roll out a production model which would obviously be a niche model sold in limited numbers.

One can only assume it's powered by the Leon CUPRA's recently updated 2.0-liter turbo with 290 PS (213 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque sent to the front axle. If it employs an all-wheel drive system, it could use the Volkswagen Golf R's hardware which consists of a 2.0-liter turbo with 300 PS (221 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque working together with a fifth generation Haldex AWD setup.

We will know more in the coming days as the SEAT Leon Cross Sport will debut at IAA which opens its doors for the press on Tuesday.
