Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales has revealed the 3-Eleven has "achieved one of the fastest ever lap times around the Nürburgring for any class of car."

While that sounds like an impressive accomplishment, it comes with a Nürburgring-sized caveat as the company's claimed lap time of 7 minutes and 06 seconds never actually happened as there were other vehicles on the track which prevented the car from as fast as possible.  Instead, the time is a combination of the "quickest sector times achieved during the fastest two laps on the 'Sport Auto' magazine lap configuration."

Despite this, Lotus 3-Eleven driver Marc Basseng said "I can say that the 3-Eleven is the perfect car for a fast lap here. It is so sharp and so focussed; a true weapon! This was proven in the sector times set and I’m sure, with the track completely to itself, the car could push towards a 7min flat lap time.”

As a refresher, the 3-Eleven features a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that develops 450 bhp (336 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.  It enables the lightweight racing variant to accelerate 0-60 mph in less than three seconds before hitting a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).
