The next generation Opel Insignia has returned in a new speculative rendering previewing the production model expected to debut in 2017.

Previous rumors suggested the Insignia B will feature a sporty design and will be more like a four-door coupe rather than a big hatch. This is exactly what we see in these renderings, provided by RM Design and showing a stylish car with Astra-inspired front end and sleek taillights.

The flagship model for Opel will likely grow in its sizes with up to 10 cm on the wheelbase. Despite this, the vehicle will be 130 kg (287 lbs) lighter than its predecessor, resulting in a better fuel consumption.

Some speculations suggest the 2016 Insignia will get an entry-level model with 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine, while a Chevrolet Malibu-sourced hybrid powerplant is also in the cards for the future.
