The "Borgward Group AG Engine Technology Research Institute in cooperation with FEV" in Aachen, Germany has been created.
Under the terms of the deal, the two companies will work together to develop new platforms and alternative drive technologies. The companies will also "conduct analysis into product strategies, market launch, technology transfer, toolmaking, and the development of training programs."
Borgward also revealed they have been working with FEV since 2010 and their partnership has lead to the development of four petrol and diesel engines. There's no word on specifications but they will likely debut in Borgward's upcoming crossover. The automaker also hinted FEV has assisted in them in the development of "other energy-saving and environmentally friendly engines, which are likewise ready for series production."
In a statement, Borgward CEO Ulrich Walker said "We are delighted to be able to intensify our long-standing partnership with FEV. The current cooperation marks a major step on our way to turning Borgward once again into a technological leader and trendsetter."
