DS Automobiles has announced plans to stage the world premiere of a new concept in less than two weeks at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

PSA-owned DS is trying to make a name for itself since becoming a standalone company, but so far their efforts have been modest, to say the least. What they need is a true flagship model and hopefully the IAA-bound concept will be a preview of that, although this is a wild guess at this moment as DS hasn't said a word about the vehicle's identity.

If it won't be a flagship model, maybe DS will offer a first glimpse of a European-spec crossover in the same vein as the China-only DS 6WR. Whatever it will be, it would be preferable for the concept to be more than just a show car since you can't boost a marque's image and sales by rolling out non-production cars.

The unknown concept will be shown in Frankfurt along with the facelifted DS 4 which has gained a new Crossback version.
