Our friends at InAutoNews have captured on camera a facelifted Porsche 911 Carrera S with very little disguise in a parking lot near the 'Ring.
This is perhaps the best (and hopefully the last) batch of images with the 991.2 ahead of the model's debut set for IAA later this month. Seen here is the 911 Carrera S wearing a lovely shade of dark brown and a little bit of disguise noticeable on the LED daytime running lights, taillights and on the new engine cover which now has vertical slats.
The very subtle styling tweaks might tempt you to believe that not much is going on in the engine area, but in reality the 3.8-liter naturally aspirated engine will be replaced by a turbocharged mill, possibly a 3.0-liter developing an estimated 420 PS (309 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque which would make it 20 PS (15 kW) and 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) stronger than the outgoing Carrera S.
Going down the turbocharging route will surely upset purists, but we have to keep in mind the facelifted model will be not only more powerful, but also more fuel efficient and quicker as the sprint time will likely decrease by 0.1s to 4 seconds for the version equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package.
An online reveal should occur in the coming days while sales are expected to kick off before the year’s end.
