Volkswagen has decided to celebrate the Polo's 40th anniversary by launching a limited-run Original special edition.
It was 1975 when Volkswagen introduced the first generation Polo and during these four decades they managed to sell more than 14 million units. A special edition is being launched in Germany where it will be available in only 1,000 units and all come in five-door guise with a choice of six engine-gearbox variations.
There are several exterior paint schemes to choose from, including this Honey Orange Metallic paint which isn't offered on any other model within Volkswagen's lineup. The cars will have body-colored side mirror caps and darkened taillights while an "Original" emblem has been applied on the fender and is complemented by the namesake lettering on the door sills.
Riding on 16-inch Portago wheels, the special Polo is fitted as standard with LED headlights and has a glossy black radiator grille along with numerous interior cabin tweaks such as aluminum pedals and black & orange plaid upholstery with faux leather side bolsters. The list of equipment is quite generous as the Polo Original gets automatic climate control system, rearview camera and Front Assist with City Emergency Braking, among others.
Priced at €19,950, Volkswagen says the Polo Original brings customer savings of €1,119 compared to an identically equipped regular model.
