The production Tesla Model X has been confirmed for an official launch in September this year.
Speaking to the company shareholders through an official letter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk says the producer is currently preparing for the launch of its first SUV model – the Model X. As part of the preparations, the Californian company is “building more validation vehicles, executing final engineering and testing work, enabling our new manufacturing equipment and finalizing arrangements with our suppliers.”
As to the vehicle itself, it will feature gullwing doors and will be be powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, similar to the one found in the Model S. Final power and acceleration figures have not been confirmed yet.
In other related news, Musk reports in Q2 of 2015 Tesla has produced 12,807 vehicles, exceeding the target of 12,500 vehicles. This represents a 15% sequential increase in production and a 46% increase from a year ago.
