Weighing less than 2,866 lbs (1,300 kg), the M6 GT3 will use a race-spec twin-turbo V8 4.4-liter which depending on the car's classification will generate as much as 585 bhp (436 kW) pushed to the road through a 6-speed sequential gearbox also optimized for race use.

The BMW M6 GT3 will start competing in 2016 in a variety of both national and international series, including here the more grueling endurance races. Interestingly, BMW Motorsport says the running costs of the new model will actually be 30% lower than those of the outgoing Z4 GT3 after efforts were made during development to have spare parts at a more affordable price.
