Audi has announced the A3 will receive a mid-cycle facelift next year and it will come with the Virtual Cockpit.
The 12.3-inch TFT fully digital instrument cluster made its debut in the third generation TT as standard equipment and then it was implemented also as standard on the R8 supercar while in the Q7 and A4 it's an optional extra. Audi’s electronics chief Ricky Huidi told Motoring the technology will be implemented in next year's facelifted A3 range and will cost approximately €400.
He went on to specify the Virtual Cockpit will eventually be offered across almost the entire range, including the next generations of the Q5 and A5. Huidi bragged about how the 12.3-inch screen is ahead of its rivals, mentioning that not even the new BMW 7-Series offers something similar.
