The Koenigsegg One:1 continues to tackle different tracks around the world, as the mighty Swedish supercar has set a new record for a production car at the Spa-Francorchamps race track.
After beating the Nissan GT-R at the Suzuka track in Japan, the One:1 stretched its legs on the Spa-Francorchamps and managed to set a new lap record for a road legal production vehicle using the same Michelin tires that are put on the car when it goes to customers. At first, the car recorded a 2:33.26-minute lap, which beats all previous known laps for a road legal production car by nearly 5 seconds.
A few weeks later the car returned to the track and recorded a time of 2:32.14 minutes in practice. The Swedish producer explains that the noise limit of 103 dB forced them to make adjustments to the exhaust system and the car could have performed even better.
“Any improvement in a lap record is a testament to the car’s capabilities and should be celebrated, but to be honest, this feels a little more like unfinished business for us,” says the brand.
