The Carabinieri are famous for their exotic car collection but the latest models aren't likely to get the heart racing as they're SEAT Leons with a 2.0-liter TDI engine that develops 150 PS.

Set to be used the Carabinieri and the Polizia di Stato, the five-door hatchbacks feature an assortment of modifications including a retuned suspension, a rear seat “prisoner cell” and armoring to protect against small arms fire.  The model also has emergency lights, police radios, weapon holders and special tires - among other things.

206 vehicles has already been delivered but the contract includes the option for up to 4,000 vehicles to be ordered over the next three years.
