The Nissan Qashqai is reportedly headed to the United States.

According to two sources who spoke to Automotive News, Nissan will phase out the Rogue Select and replace it with the Qashqai.  It will reportedly be sold as a "smaller and more fuel-efficient" version of the Rogue.

While the two models are similar, the Qashqai is about ten inches shorter than the Rogue.  It also offers a variety of fuel-efficient engines but it remains unclear which one will be offered in the United States.

In related news, the sources said a Rogue Hybrid will be added to the lineup sometime next year.  Nothing is official but previous reports have indicated it could use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack.
