Audi put an end to the suspense late last month when they unveiled the all-new A4 premium compact sedan & wagon and unsurprisingly, speculative renders immediately emerged, with the RS4 Avant being the most popular. But until that comes out, the Ingolstadt-based automaker will introduce a rugged version of the Avant which will carry on the allroad quattro moniker.

The attached digital illustrations likely paint an accurate picture of the real deal which should be out sometime next year with the usual plastic body cladding, front & rear underbody protection, jacked up suspension and a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.

Engines will be carried over from the regular A4 Avant so expect to find a 2.0 TFSI with 190 PS & 252 PS, along with a 2.0 TDI rated at 150 PS & 190 PS while the top diesel will be a 3.0 TDI outputting 218 PS & 272 PS, with the beefier version offering a massive 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque.

We could see it as early as March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show, with sales starting immediately after that.
