Before you get your hopes up too high, we should remind you Skoda previously said there won't be a Superb vRS (or a Fabia vRS) as the sole model from Czech Republic to wear the special badge will continue to be the Octavia vRS available in both liftback and combi flavors. It should be mentioned the Volkswagen-owned marque is thinking about launching a "sporty" version of the new Superb, but that might come only with cosmetic enhancements.

The quickest Superb on sale today is an AWD-only version with a four-cylinder, 2.0 TSI engine linked exclusively to a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and pushing out 280 PS (206 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. It's enough to grant the liftback with a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in a more than decent 5.8 seconds before topping out at 155 mph (250 km/h).
