McLaren has commenced production of the track-only P1 GTR, earlier than originally scheduled.

The initial plan was to kick off assembly after finalizing the whole 375-unit batch of the road-going P1, but McLaren has already started putting together the 1,000 PS track beast. So far they have 42 orders, but they estimate total production will stand at 45 cars, each priced at an eye-watering £1.98 million.

As for the P1, production will come to an end next month and the very last unit will get a bare carbon fiber body. It's not known at this point when McLaren will conclude production of its race-spec sibling, but with the first track event set for this October, most of the anxious buyers will certainly want to show off their prized possessions which with time will likely get even more valuable.
