The classic Renault 4 has been brought back to life by designer Kayvan Naderi.
Called the ReFour, the project previews an interesting retro looking subcompact model for the French brand that could easily compete against the MINI and the Fiat 500. Actually, the design has nothing to share with current design language of the brand with its distinctive radiator grille and rounded headlights.
The virtual vehicle is based on an aluminum chassis which is then covered by colored thermoplastic body panels. This method has been chosen to “reduce weight, limit corrosion and also eliminate the need for paint.”
The original Renault 4 was produced between 1961 and 1992 and is the first front-wheel drive family car made by the company. It was offered with 0.7-, 0.8-, 1.0- and 1.1-liter engines and 3- and 4-speed manual gearboxes.
