According to a recent report, the 2018 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang could be powered by a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine.

While Automobile Magazine says a V8 "isn’t out of the question," they're suggesting the model could use the high-performance 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine from the Ford GT.  The decision wouldn't pleasure the purists but the engine would produce more than 600 bhp (447 kW) and be connected to a six-speed manual transmission instead of the GT's seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Regardless of what powers the car, the model is expected to follow in the footsteps of the GT350 and GT350R by adopting an aggressive body kit, high-performance brakes and a sport-tuned suspension.
