Jeep has announced the next generation Grand Cherokee has been delayed by at least a year.

Jeep has announced the next generation Grand Cherokee has been delayed by at least a year.

It was originally supposed to come out in the third quarter of 2017, but now it has been pushed back until 2018 or even 2019 according to company's CEO Mike Manley. The main reason for this has to do with Jeep's decision to reanalyze the platform upon which the new Grand Cherokee will ride and according to the latest intel it will use the same architecture as the bigger and more expensive Grand WagoneerFCA CEO Sergio Marchionne says engineers have to take "a complete re-look" at the Grand Cherokee's underpinnings

Manley also mentioned the next generation Wrangler is still on track to come out in the second quarter of 2017. Jeep's sales have surged by 20% so far this year and company officials believe the company will manage to deliver 1.2 million vehicles by the end of 2015. Based on these recent good numbers, Jeep is confident they will reach their goal to have 1.9 million global sales by 2018.
