Dodge and Mopar have introduced the new Challenger Drag Pak.
Billed as a "factory-prepped package car specifically geared for drag racing," the Challenger Drag Pak features a ram air hood, body stripes and 15-inch racing wheels with Hoosier drag radial tires.
Moving on to the interior, there's revised instrumentation, new switchgear and an NHRA-spec roll cage. The model also has a safety net and lightweight racing seats with five-point harnesses.
Under the hood, two HEMI V8 engines will be available. The naturally-aspirated unit displaces 426 cubic-inches, while the supercharged engine is 354 cubic-inches. Dodge declined to release performance specifications but both engines are connected to a "race-prepped" automatic transmission.
Speaking of performance, the car features a revised front suspension with a revised suspension geometry as well as a unique Mopar K-Member. The rear suspension also has been upgraded with a Strange Engineering 4-inch solid axle, a 9-inch aluminum third member and adjustable shocks - among other things.
According to Mopar Motorsports Marketing Manager Dale Aldo, “In the first runs the new Drag Pak ran consistently in the eights [eight-second range] while improving times at the 60-ft. mark and also performing very well in the quarter mile. Once our customers get the car on the track, we feel it’s going to be a clear winner.”
The Challenger Drag Pak will go up for order on July 23rd and pricing starts at $99,426 for the naturally-aspirated version and $109,354 for the supercharged variant.
