New details are starting to emerge about the 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine that will be offered in the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.
According to Motor Trend, the four-cylinder diesel engine will produce 181 bhp (135 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. The engine is also slated to have a best-in-class fuel economy rating that could top 30 mpg highway.
The diesel variants will also be equipped with an integrated trailer brake controller and a revised six-speed automatic transmission which has a centrifugal pendulum absorber that helps to eliminate vibrations in driveshaft due to the additional torque.
The trucks are slated to go on sale this fall and full details will be announced closer to launch.
