MR Racing is offering a power boost kit and a sound generator for the Volkswagen Golf GTD hot diesel hatch.

The most powerful diesel Golf offers in standard configuration 184 PS (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) from its four-cylinder, 2.0-liter TDI engine but now has received a K&N air filter and has gone through a software optimization program which has lifted output to 221 PS (162 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft).

The sound provided by the turbodiesel engine isn't overly impressive so for those who want to hear a beefier tone, MR Racing has developed a sound generator system which can artificially enable the soundtrack provided by a V8 engine. It costs €1,699 and can be controlled through an optional Wi-Fi receiver by using an app installed on an iPhone or an Android-running smartphone.

Other upgrades include a sports exhaust system with dual 100 mm tailpipes along with a Rieger body kit encompassing a front spoiler lip, front spoiler blade, side skirts and a rear diffuser. It also has 40 mm front arch extensions from SRS-Tec, 20-inch wheels with 235/30R20 Hankook Ventus S1 Evo tires and a KW Variant 3 height-adjustable coilover suspension kit.

There's no word about performance figures, but it should be a tad quicker than the standard Volkswagen Golf GTD which needs 7.5 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h) and tops out at 143 mph (230 km/h).
