Audi is just about ready to take the wraps off the A4 B9 as an official introduction is expected before the end of the month, but we will have to wait a while until the warm S4 version will be introduced since it's unlikely to be revealed before the end of the year. Seen here is a fully camouflaged prototype likely equipped with an evolution of the six-cylinder 3.0 TFSI engine which in the outgoing S4 delivers 333 PS (245 kW) so a bump in output to 360-370 PS is plausible.
Combine the extra power with an estimated 100 kg (220 lbs) weight loss, it means the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) will take significantly than the five seconds needed by the current S4 Sedan. This should make the new S4 Sedan a worthy adversary of the Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG Sport which packs a 367 PS punch and runs the sprint in 4.9 seconds.
If the S4 Sedan & Avant won’t fulfill your thirst for power, the RS4 (due sometime in 2017) should do the trick but keep in mind it will lose the naturally aspirated V8 in favor of a smaller six-cylinder unit which could benefit from e-turbo technology.
