The 2016 MINI Clubman has been spied with its distinctive 'barn doors' open.

Snapped in a parking lot, the 2016 Clubman follows in the footsteps of its predecessor but is significantly larger and adopts two traditional rear doors as well as the aforementioned split tailgate. The model also has a slightly revised front fascia and a panoramic glass roof.

Engine options will carryover from the Cooper, so expect a variety of petrol and diesel options including a 1.5-liter three-cylinder with 134 bhp (100 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque as well as a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 189 bhp (141 kW) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque.
