The mighty Koenigsegg One:1 has lapped the famous Suzuka race track in Japan.
Part of the Koenigsegg team visited the Japanese circuit to demonstrate to hypercar to “clients and partners in a more personal sense”. The One:1 was taken for several laps by factory test driver Robert Serwanskiand, who even managed to set a new unofficial lap record for a production car.
“Our best recorded lap time in this half-hour slot was 2m 17.57s,” Christian von Koenigsegg said. “This is from our own data-logging system, connected to the car on the day. It is not an official time and has no external standing.” The official Suzuka track record for a production car stands at 2:18.36 min and is held by the Nissan GT-R.
“To have potentially beaten this time at our first outing, while running a standard setup, with little exposure to the track beforehand, with a passenger inside the car during all laps and with brakes that had to be nursed a little throughout the session, was very encouraging indeed,” Koenigsegg also added.
