Opel has announced their Adam model is receiving an Easytronic 3.0 automated manual gearbox
Opel has announced their Adam model is receiving an Easytronic 3.0 automated manual gearbox.
Set to be unveiled during the Istanbul Motor Show (May 22-31), the Adam 1.4 Easytronic features an automated manual gearbox with “low internal friction” that is optimized for smaller engines. In automatic mode, an electro-hydraulic actuator takes over shifting and clutching operations. Opel says “the transmission electronics automatically select the most fuel-efficient gear for prevailing driving conditions”, thus enabling “super-economical driving”.
The transmission will be offered with a naturally aspirated 1.4-liter petrol engine with 87 PS (64 kW). The producer claims, thanks to the new gearbox, the unit with start-stop system consumes 4.7 liters per 100 km and emits 109 grams of CO2 per km. The Easytronic 3.0 cuts fuel consumption by up to 0.4 l/100 km compared to the five-speed manual.
The Adam 1.4 Easytronic is already available for order at an extra charge of 600 EUR compared to the manual five-speed gearbox.
