Volkswagen has begun accepting orders for the new Passat BlueMotion in Germany.

Billed as the "most economical and most environmentally friendly" Passat, the model features an active shutter grille, aerodynamic styling tweaks and 16-inch Copenhagen-style alloy wheels.

Power is provided by a 1.6-liter TDI engine that produces 120 PS (88 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque.  It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission which enables the model to consume 3.7 L/100km (63.5 mpg US / 76.3 mpg UK) and have CO2 emissions of just 95 g/km.

The Passat BlueMotion will be available as a sedan and wagon and pricing starts at €29,425.
