A massively camouflaged prototype of the Renault Kayou has been spied prior to an official reveal on Wednesday.

Slotting underneath the Sandero, it will be a very affordable hatchback for the city which will allegedly take design cues from subcompact crossovers. Renault has released a teaser sketch of the model codenamed "XBA", but don't get too excited as the real deal won't look as promising as the drawing.

Set to be manufactured in India, the Renault Kayou will ride on the CMF-A platform and is expected to have a 3-cylinder 0.8-liter gasoline engine with up to 50 bhp (37 kW) sent to the front axle via a five-speed manual or an automated manual gearbox.

It should be mentioned the photo where you can see the turn signal is on was actually taken in Europe, thus fueling rumors of a possible Dacia version produced in Morocco and set to be commercialized on the old continent at a starting price of around €5,000.

Renault India has announced the Kayou (name not confirmed) will be revealed on May 20.
