Our colleagues at IndianAutosBlog have managed to obtain what appear to be official images of the 2016 Toyota Hilux Revo.

The new mid-size pickup truck from Toyota has been spied undisguised several times and now the next-gen Hilux can be seen in a couple of low-res official pics before the model's confirmed debut for May 21. It looks more polished than the outgoing model and has received a pair of sweptback headlights flanking a chrome grille with thick horizontal bars while the side profile shows what could possibly be longer rear doors, thus indicating a stretched wheelbase granting a more spacious cabin.

The rear end hosts redesigned taillights which could use LED technology, but this has not been confirmed by Toyota yet. There aren't any images in this set showing the cabin, but from previous shots we found out it's getting a large tablet-like touchscreen standing out from the dashboard, along with a new steering wheel, revised air vents along with other changes to make the Hilux's interior look more like what you get in a regular car.

Toyota has already confirmed the 2016 Hilux will use a newly developed 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine with 160 bhp (119 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) along with a slightly more powerful 2.8-liter rated at 177 bhp (132 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). Both engines are going to be coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Check back next week for full details as Toyota will officially introduce the next-gen Hilux on May 21.
