After last week’s reveal, the highly appealing Audi TT clubsport turbo concept is back to make its video premiere.
Debuting this week at Wörthersee, Audi's new radical take on the TT has received the familiar TFSI 2.5-liter 5-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine which in this application also contains an e-turbo. It has boosted output to an amazing 600 PS (441 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque, but don't get too excited as the technology is not ready just yet for a production car.
The latest TT concept weighs 1,396 kg (3,077 lbs) and can run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) journey in a mere 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 192 mph (310 km/h). Audi says it covers 16 meters in 2.5 seconds which represents a 6 meter increase compared to a similar car without the aid of e-turbo tech which in the case of the concept grants "powerful sprints from low engine speeds at all times."
According to development chief Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi's e-turbo technology is "close to production readiness" which means it won't be that long until e-turbo will be implemented in a car from Ingolstadt.
