Volkswagen is previewing a special Golf GTI Performance one-off which will be unveiled on Thursday at the Wörthersee meeting.

Set to join the Golf GTI Clubsport concept, Volkswagen's unique Golf GTI Performance was transformed by 13 apprentices who used a three-door version that received a two-tone paint with body graphics and matching wheels. It wears a subtlety revised body kit and probably has some cabin tweaks, but photos of the interior are not available at this point.

Volkswagen doesn't say if this special Golf GTI Performance has received hardware upgrades over the production car which uses a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 230 PS (169 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.  All that power is channeled to the front wheels through either a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional dual clutch six-speed automatic gearbox.

In terms of performance, the regular variant needs 6.4 seconds to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and will top out at 155 mph (250 km/h).

We will have all the details on Thursday when the Golf GTI Performance prepared by Volkswagen’s apprentices will be unveiled at the Wörthersee meeting.
