The 2016 Audi R8 LMS has achieved its first victory at last weekend's VLN endurance championship at the Nürburgring.

While the race was only the car's third outing, the Audi Sport Team WRT managed to secure a one-two victory following an early battle with Mercedes.  In the end, Christopher Mies and Nico Müller managed to finish 1 minute and 27 second ahead of their teammates Pierre Kaffer and Laurens Vanthoor to claim the win.

According to Mies, “I’m absolutely delighted, because it was a nail-biting race."  He went on to say "The new Audi R8 LMS was easy to drive in both wet and dry conditions."

As a refresher, the R8 LMS was introduced earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show with a 5.2-liter V10 engine that develops 585 PS (430 kW).
