According to a new report, the BMW 2-Series Coupe will receive a new diesel unit.
Bimmertoday says the 225d version will get a new 2.0-liter diesel engine that will replace the current motor with the same displacement. The 4-cylinder unit will be available from July this year and will feature a twin-turbo technology. It will be mated as standard to an 8-speed automatic gearbox from ZF.
The maximum power will reportedly be increased from 218 PS (160 kW) to 224 PS (165 kW), while the peak torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) will remain unchanged but will be available in a wider rpm range – from 1500 to 3000 rpm. The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time won’t be improved, but average fuel consumption will stand at less than 4.5 liters per 100 km.
