Mercedes' head of research and development has confirmed the GLC Coupe concept will be going into production.
While this isn't terribly surprising, Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber told The Detroit Bureau the production model will be introduced after the company unveils the GLC and the GLS.
Weber didn't have much to say about the crossover but chief engineer Eberhard Kelz revealed some of the concept's more extreme styling elements - including the slender mirrors and aggressive exhaust system - won't carryover to production.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but are expected to echo those in the C-Class. There could also be an AMG variant with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 476 PS (350 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.
