PSA's luxury brand DS is working on an innovative suspension as well as on a granite application for the interior cabin.
DS boss Yves Bonnefont told Autocar the luxury marque is developing a "sophisticated" suspension along with other new technologies to make the DS-branded cars a more important rival to the German trio. Details about this new suspension are not available at this point, but it should be something very interesting taking into account the French have a prolific history in this department, with models such as the Traction Avant which used a self-leveling, height-adjustable rear hydropneumatic suspension that was later on applied on both axles for the DS.
Aside from working on a new suspension, the PSA conglomerate says they have found a way to use granite for the interior cabin of a DS-branded model. They already previewed this feature last year with the Divine DS concept which used gold-flecked granite for the dashboard surround. The engineers have now discovered a method to apply thin layers of granite on a production car while different applications of wood are also being planned for future series cars wearing the DS badge.
