The Mercedes-AMG GT3 has been spotted flexing its muscles around the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Unveiled last month at the Geneva Motor Show, the menacing Mercedes-AMG GT3 can now be seen in action for the first time tackling the ‘Ring and playing its raspy soundtrack. The racecar will replace the SLS AMG GT3 and will be powered by an uprated version of the naturally aspirated V8 6.3-liter engine borrowed from its predecessor and teamed up with an upgraded six-speed sequential transmission. We remind you the road-going Mercedes-AMG GT upon which the track car is based comes with a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine.

Aside from receiving a different engine, the racecar also gets a wider and more aggressive body featuring a massive rear wing and diffuser. AMG's engineers have made extensive use of carbon fiber to shave off weight and for the same reason they also stripped out the cabin where now resides a carbon fiber racing seat, digital instrument cluster and a steel roll cage.

Mercedes-AMG has already started work on a road-going version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 likely coming out in 2016 with more power and less weight. Later on, a full-blown Black Series version will be introduced as a range-topper.
