Porsche has announced they are seriously considering expanding the Boxster/Cayman lineup by adding a Boxster Spyder GT4 and a Cayman GT4 RS.

British magazine Autocar is citing a source close to Porsche who says the company is analyzing the prospects of coming out with a GT4 version of the recently introduced Boxster Spyder. If green-lighted for production, the range-topping Boxster version is going to be virtually the same as the Cayman GT4, with the exception of the roof. As a consequence, expect a six-cylinder 3.8-liter engine with 385 PS (283 kW) channeled to the wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

There also might be an even more hardcore version of the Cayman GT4 which is believed to receive the "RS" moniker. Porsche has previously said such a model isn't in the works yet but they did say it could be out sometime in the future. Fueled by the success of the Cayman GT4, the Stuttgart-based automaker is now analyzing the prospects of coming out with a Cayman GT4 RS which will likely be even more powerful and lighter.
