Towards the end of last month we shared some pics with an A45 AMG prototype in southern Europe and now it seems the same car was spotted in the exact same location. Sitting on top of the A-Class range, the hot hatchback is bound to undergo a minor cosmetic surgery bringing slightly restyled bumpers, an updated grille and lightly tweaked graphics for the lighting clusters.

More importantly, the engineers are fiddling with the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo engine to boost its output from the current 360 HP (265 kW) to approximately 380 HP (280 kW). The main reason why they are doing this is because Audi stole Mercedes-Benz's hot hatch power crown with the RS3 Sportback which packs a 367 HP (270 kW) punch from its larger 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter turbo.

The entire A-Class family is about to receive a facelift and will likely be unveiled online in August, prior to a public debut in September at Frankfurt Motor Show.
