X-Tomi Design decided to render a wagon version of the new Kia Optima to show us what we're missing.

Kia was such a tease with the sexy Sportspace concept as many hoped it would materialize into a production version, but Kia Motors America vice president of product planning Orth Hendricks said recently it's not going to happen. They believe an Optima wagon would clash with the Sorento and also they estimate sales wouldn't be that high to justify development and production costs.

Seen here is a digital interpretation from X-Tomi Design of an Optima wagon with the SW (Sportswagon) suffix as used on the Euro-spec cee'd. Hopefully, Kia will change its mind in the years to come, possibly in time for the mid-life refresh, as an Optima SW would be a breath of fresh air among mid-size wagons.
