The second generation Audi R8 V10 Plus has received the digital treatment from Theophilus Chin who decided to chop off the roof to create a Spyder version.
Audi took the wraps off the overhauled R8 last month at the Geneva Motor Show but they only showed the coupe while the open-top version will probably come out sometime next year. It's fairly easy to image how it will look like since aside from removing the fixed metal roof there aren't going to be any other significant modifications.
Theophilus Chin envisioned the range-topping Audi R8 V10 Plus Spyder version which will be powered by the same V10 FSI 5.2-liter engine pushing out 610 HP (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft). Due to the complexity of the roof mechanism, weight will increase a little bit from the coupe's 1,454 kg (3,205 lbs) which will have a negative impact on the performance so expect the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) to take a little bit more than the 3.2s needed by the coupe. Top speed will likely decrease from the 205 mph (330 km/h) achieved by its metal roof sibling.
While the coupe carries a starting price of €187,400 in "Plus" specification, the equivalent Spyder version will probably hit the €200,000 mark.
