Mercedes has dominated the World Car of the Year awards as the automaker has claimed three of the five honors.

First and foremost, the Mercedes C-Class was named the 2015 World Car of the Year.  It beat out the Ford Mustang and Volkswagen Passat to take the top honor.

Mercedes also won awards for World Luxury Car of the Year and World Performance Car of Year for the S-Class Coupe and Mercedes-AMG GT, respectively.

The German automaker was also in the running for the World Green Car of the Year but the S500 Plug-In Hybrid lost out to the BMW i8.

Last but not least, the Citroen C4 Cactus won the award for World Car Design of the Year as experts praised its innovative design and called it a "proper breath of fresh air.”
