Alpina has introduced two special edition models celebrating the company’s 50th anniversary.
Based on the B5 Bi-Turbo and the B6 Bi-Turbo, the Edition 50 special editions will benefit from hand-crafted sports seats in black leather, piano black trim panels with Edition 50 and the signature of company founder Burkard Bovensiepen and a special ‘1965 – 2015’ logo on the seat backs, in the carpets and on the key ring.
The most important improvements lie under the hood where a heavily revised 4.4-liter V8 engine has been mounted. The company explains particular attention has been paid to air flow optimization, while charge density and thermal stability have been further enhanced. Many other engine components have also been revised for “very high performance with long life”.
Thanks to this, the Edition 50 has 600 HP (441 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft), thus being the most powerful road car ever developed by the German tuners. Compared with the standard B5 Bi-Turbo and B6 Bi-Turbo models, the power has been increased with additional 60 HP (44 kW) and 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).
Alpina says it will create 50 saloons or estates and 50 similar coupes with only very small numbers to be available in the UK, with prices starting from 86,850 GBP (117,800 EUR).
