Scion has released a couple of teaser images for the upcoming 2016 iM hatchback and iA sedan.

The iM five-door hatchback has already been previewed through a namesake concept unveiled back in November 2014 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It's basically a rebadged version of the Toyota Auris, but with a more youthful design although nothing to write home about. Scion says the iM will combine "maximum versatility with a sporty design and a fun-to-drive experience."

As for the iA sedan, there are some reports indicating it will be based on the Mazda2 Sedan, but in the end it could simply be a rebadged Toyota Corolla. Whatever it will be, Scion says it was designed for the younger audience who values practicality, but desires "engaging styling and outstanding driving dynamics."

The use of "i" in the rather uninspiring name choice of both models refers to "intriguing, individual, and easy on customers "income". As for the "M" in the hatchback's moniker, it has to do with its "modern style and multi-faceted uses." The "A" in the sedan's designation denotes an "accommodating trunk and the aggressive styling."

Both the 2016 Scion iM and iA will be unveiled on March 31, prior to making their public debut a day later at the New York Auto Show.
