Honda has announced the recently introduced Civic Type R will compete in the 2015 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).

Honda Yuasa Racing used a Civic Tourer in last year's BTCC season and now they are putting the finishing touches on the Civic Type R which will be revealed in full on March 24 at Donington. It has been designed and built in the Team Dynamics workshops in Pershore, Worcestershire and it's obviously based on the road-legal 2015 Civic Type R but with some major changes.

For example, the four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo inside the regular model generates 310 HP (228 kW) whereas the race-spec version will provide 350 HP (257 kW) while torque will remain the same at 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). Aside from the power bump, the race-spec Civic Type R gets a beefier body kit, stiffer & lowered sports suspension, a different rear wing and a stripped out cabin featuring a roll cage.
